Taylor Heinicke, QB – Unrestricted Free Agent

Four different quarterbacks rotated on and off the active roster last season as injuries piled up. Two of those are now free agents and Hurney will ultimately have to determine the appropriate path moving forward.

Taylor Heinicke served as the backup for Newton for much of the season and was slotted to start the final two games. Unfortunately, an injury forced him out of action bringing on Kyle Allen and eventually Garrett Gilbert.

Gilbert is an exclusive free agent so the Panthers could save a little money by forcing him to return, but Heinicke shouldn’t be too expensive and could serve as a solid reserve if another signing brings about a veteran backup in the process.
