Damiere Byrd, WR – Restricted Free Agent

Wide receiver Damiere Byrd has shown flashes of his capabilities over the course of his Panthers career. An undrafted rookie, Byrd’s speed and explosiveness on offense and special teams have allowed him to make an impact but injuries have held him back.

At a position loaded with young talent, fellow free agent Devin Funchess is likely to sign elsewhere so bringing back Byrd would keep talent depth available while Hurney searches for a solid option on the outside.

While the emergence of rookie D.J. Moore was inspiring, there is no question Newton and the Panthers would benefit from a proven receiver playing opposite younger, developing, options.
