Carolina Panthers set to play overseas for first time in franchise history
Carolina Panthers to play in London for first time in franchise history during the 2019 season.
The Carolina Panthers remain one of only three NFL teams to not make the trek across the Atlantic Ocean and play in London since the league began housing games in the city 12 years ago. That changes this year when the 2019 regular season gets underway in September, although an exact date has not been released.
Joining Carolina for games over in London will be the Houston Texans, who have also not previously made the trip, leaving the Green Bay Packers as the only team left following next season.
Typically the NFL schedule is released in late April, just prior to the draft. Once announced, the Panthers will know precisely when they are scheduled to make the journey which typically precedes a bye week, but not always.

The team announced the game will be played against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. A home game for the NFC South divisional rival, Carolina maintains their full eight game regular season slate at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.
The nearly 4,000 mile trip to London comes close to equaling the entire distance Carolina traveled during all of last season. It will be the first time in franchise history that the team has played overseas or outside of the United States.
Two NFL games will be scheduled at Wembley Stadium and another two at the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which officially opens this year. Another International Series game will be played in Mexico City (Mexico).
Following is the full International Series slate of games for 2019:
Carolina Panthers vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – London
Chicago Bears vs. Oakland Raiders – London
Cincinnati Bengals vs. Los Angeles Rams – London
Houston Texans vs. Jacksonville Jaguars – London
Kansas City Chiefs vs. Los Angeles Chargers – Mexico City
Historically, most London kickoff times have been scheduled for 9:30am ET so prepare for at least one early game day next season.
