While no one can replace Kalil, adding a center will be critical regardless of who ends up in the position to start the 2019 season. Ross Pierschbacher offers a versatile interior lineman who should be able to compete for a starting job if he lands in Carolina.

Projected as a mid-round pick, his availability would give Hurney the option of focusing on other areas prior to making Pierschbacher the selection. However, a strong performance at the Senior Bowl could improve his draft status and put him on the radar of other teams in need.

"Pierschbacher has blocked well for Alabama in 2018. He is quality run blocker and reliable pass protector, but has some limitations for the NFL. Sources are lukewarm on Pierschbacher and see him as a mid-rounder."
