The Panthers should get running back Fozzy Whittaker back in 2019, but after leaning heavily on Christian McCaffrey, a continued commitment is expected moving forward. While Whittaker would come closer to fitting the style of offense instituted by Norv Turner (unlike C.J. Anderson), Carolina may elect to find a younger back with similar characteristics to their rising star.

Wes Hills is an intriguing option. After transferring down to Division II Slippery Rock, Hills has bolstered his draft status and ignited the interest of NFL scouts. Able to catch and run out of the backfield, a strong performance over the weekend may also peak Hurney’s interest.

"Hills averaged 7.0 yards per carry in 2018 for 1,714 yards with 17 touchdowns. He also had 28 receptions for 193 yards. Hills has the attention of NFL evaluators after transferring down to Division II from Delaware. He has a nice combination of size and speed. At Delaware, Hills averaged 6.5 yards per carry for 1,849 yards with 14 touchdowns."
