Carolina Panthers: NBA All-Star Weekend visits Bank of America Stadium
Carolina Panthers open their home to NBA All-Star Weekend festivities in Charlotte.
New Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper spoke recently about extending the capabilities for Bank of America Stadium. He jokingly (maybe) suggested putting a roof over the stadium so it could be used to host basketball games and specifically an NCAA Final Four championship.
North Carolina is known across the country for collegiate basketball, home to both the University of North Carolina and Duke, who repeatedly are among the best every year and ‘Tobacco Road’ that extends to include both NC State and Wake Forest. Three (Duke, NC State, UNC) are less than 25 miles apart but all are at least 140 miles from Charlotte.
It is here where NBA legend and North Carolina native, Michael Jordan, continues to make an impact on the league as owner of the Charlotte Hornets. His team and the Queen City are also scheduled to host the NBA All-Star game this coming Sunday.

A spectacle that has expanded to include the entire weekend, thousands of fans, media and team personnel will embark on the city to experience the biggest sporting event ever in Charlotte and the Panthers are taking advantage.
Bank of America Stadium will be used for different events throughout the weekend and it started as a host site for ESPN First Take, in front of a live audience of excited fans. The Panthers social media team took to Twitter and shared a video of how they “show out for the Queen City”.
Former Hornets star Muggsy Bogues and Jordan teammate, Scottie Pippen, both were guests on the show along with hosts Max Kellerman, Molly Qerim Rose and Stephen A. Smith, who attended Winston-Salem State University and called North Carolina home.
If Tepper wasn’t kidding, the next time NBA All-Star weekend visits, Bank of America may host more than just the preview show.
