Greg Little

Greg Little is an interesting case. In all of the scouting reports I’ve read, he is a player that still needs a little bit of work and probably could have benefited another year in school. However, this is not the strongest draft for tackles so in hindsight, he could’ve came out at the right time. In what is becoming a passing league, offensive lineman are becoming more important than ever before.

As WalterFootball.com notes, he may have a tendency to get bullrushed into the pocket. If he were drafted by the Panthers however, that would not be too big of a problem as Cam Newton would be able to move out of the pocket. The biggest problem for Newton last year was getting hit. If  Little can manage to just keep his man out of Newton’s throwing lanes, that might be enough to get the job done. I’d say the biggest thing he could help the Panthers with is not allowing Newton to get hit.

The Panthers allowed 21 quarterback hits in 2018. All things considered that is not a terrible number. Given the type of quarterback  Newton is, one that scrambles out of the pocket and almost invites himself to get hit, that number needs to go down if the Panthers want their star to last. On an offensive line that definitely needs some new talent, Little could be the perfect candidate (even though he is a project) for the line. He may not be a star right now, but he could be the type of player the Panthers build the line around down the road.
