Jonah Williams

They say playing in the SEC is basically like playing in the National Football League. The top pick for the potential offensive lineman the Carolina Panthers could draft played under Nick Saban and Alabama. Jonah Williams certainly made an impact in Tuscaloosa and he could make a big impact in Charlotte.

He experienced success as soon as he stepped on Alabama’s campus. He was a starter as a freshman in 2016. From there, he played on the blindside in 2017. Measuring in at six-foot-four, 297 pounds, he is described as an intelligent blocker with mobility. I’ll be honest, when I hear a prospect plays for a  SEC school, I give them a little bit more consideration. The  SEC is one of the toughest conferences in college football and Carolina could certainly use a tough offensive lineman.

He sounds a bit more versatile than any of the other prospects on this slideshow. The Panthers certainly need that as holes need to be made for Christian McCaffrey and protection needs to be had for Newton. Admittedly, this may be a bit of a reach for Carolina to pick him at 16. However since offensive lineman is an area of need, this would be an exception. The Panthers need someone who can create running lanes and protect the quarterback. Particularly if he has blindside blocking duties,Williams could be more important than initially thought.
