Free agent receivers the Carolina Panthers may target
Jamison Crowder, WR
Another option would be Washington receiver Jamison Crowder, who has developed into a solid receiver despite some nagging injuries. The biggest drawback for Crowder may be his expressed interest in staying with the team that drafted him.

Crowder is arguably the best receiver in Washington and coming off a rookie contract may find himself better suited by playing elsewhere. The Panthers don’t have a ton of cap space but any money spent to help Newton and improve the offense would be a good investment.
However, as Hurney navigates the market and evaluates the talent available, it’s unlikely the Panthers spend big at the receiver position. Given the historic track record and inability to provide Newton with a formidable target, it would be a welcome change but an unlikely one at this juncture.
Funchess too is coming off his rookie contract and expected to receive a larger pay day elsewhere. If he does walk, then expect Carolina to add another receiver at some point during the offseason – although it may not be via free agency.
If Hurney can fill other areas of need with a few inexpensive veterans, they can focus on any vacancies during the NFL Draft in April, including wide receiver.
