Ian Thomas was almost immediately forced into action after tight end Greg Olsen suffered another foot injury. Hopes are the veteran returns to his 1,000 yard production level in 2019 but the Panthers still have to be planning for his inevitable departure.

Adding another tight end late could assist in this process and the Panthers have already shown interest in Kentucky’s C.J. Conrad. Meeting with Carolina during the East-West Shrine game, Conrad fits a hybrid position similar to Alex Armah but with more pass catching opportunities.

Projected as a late round pick, the Panthers may attempt to land another prospective tight end by selecting Conrad toward the end of the draft.
