White would make an instant impact for the Carolina Panthers.

As draft season gets closer, more analysts are submitting their mock drafts. Monday was no exception as Chad Reuter of NFL.com made his picks. The Carolina Panthers had an interesting pick at  No. 16, and it is one that would fill an immediate need. LSU junior linebacker Devin White was the selection for Carolina.

More from Cat Crave

White had a tremendous year for the Tigers in 2018. He recorded 123 tackles and three sacks in 13 contests. He also forced three fumbles while recovering two of them. His tackle amount ranked him tops in the SEC. His 62 solo tackles put him second in the conference. He won several accolades for his play including being named an All-American and winning the Dick Butkus Award. The amazing part of this is that he had a down year in 2018. He performed even better in the 2017 campaign.

Recording 133 tackles, he tallied three sacks and an interception to boot. His 96 assisted tackles in 2017 ranked him first in the SEC and in all of college football. Surprisingly enough that year, he was only second in the conference in tackles. Roquan Smith of Georgia ( now of Chicago Bears fame) led the way with 137.

"Fourteen years after selecting Thomas Davis in the middle of the first round, Carolina finds his replacement in the rangy White."

What could White bring to the Panthers? For one thing, he is not your typical linebacker. He plays more like a defensive end at times. He is not afraid to come down and try to sack the quarterback. In addition, he plays with a very high motor. Once he identifies his target, he comes down and makes the play. Not only that, he makes solid tackles to boot. He identifies his target, and takes good angles to get there. He would be a tremendous boost to the Carolina Panthers group of linebackers. Especially with the departure of Thomas Davis, White would be a nice building block for the defense. They certainly need help at the position.

Next. Two media networks want Greg Olsen. dark

White should be available for the Carolina Panthers to select at number 16. With the need for depth at linebacker, I could see them taking him. They need to restock a thin position group and he would certainly be a great pick. He is athletic and is a multidimensional player. He would fit very well in an aggressive defense as the Panthers look to fill some holes on that side of the ball.
