An unwillingness to re-sign linebacker Thomas Davis coupled with wanting to exhibit more 3-4 fronts in 2019 have created a vacancy at the linebacker position. While Shaq Thompson has steadily improved and expectations are high for a few others currently on the roster, Luke Kuechly could use some help.

Currently, Mack Wilson is projected as one of the top five linebackers available, indicating he could be a first round pick. Depending on which position the Panthers decide is most important will ultimately play into who they name as the newest member of the team in April.

If it’s a linebacker, then Hurney should have been watching Wilson closely during his pro day workouts.
