Matt Paradis

It seems like all we have talked about is the offensive line, but that was a major position of need heading into this offseason. The Carolina Panthers addressed it in a very good way. They signed former Denver Broncos center Matt Paradis to a three-year $27 million deal. A crafty veteran, he can play well both in pass and run blocking situations.

Although the offensive line did well last year with the situation they were given, there was no doubt that the Carolina Panthers needed to upgrade. They addressed the line position very well this offseason. Paradis recorded a 78.6 pass blocking grade and a 77.4 run blocking grade in the 2018 season according to statistics from Pro Football Focus. Blocking is crucial for this offense, and he can certainly do the job. With how many times Newton got hit last year,  the Carolina Panthers needed to make a move. It seems like they did a nice job taking stock of what they needed and filled in the gaps from there.

Players who are as durable as Paradis is do not come around too often either. In 57 career games, he has started all of them. For an line that was ravaged by injuries last year, dependability and the ability to stay in games is exactly what the Panthers need. Paradis checks off multiple boxes on Carolina’s needs list. He has the chance to be Carolina’s most dependable signing this offseason.
