Can Carolina Panthers GM Marty Hurney find success outside of the first-round?

Faced with multiple vacancies this offseason, Carolina Panthers general manager Marty Hurney has been hard at work finding suitable replacements for a number of openings. While the plan Hurney, coach Ron Rivera and the team have put in place is far from complete, the NFL Draft always marks a significant point in any roster construction process.

Early free agent signings at center and along the defensive line, with Matt Paradis and Bruce Irvin have helped to fill some gaps but other areas also require attention. It is expected the Panthers will continue their efforts to bolster both lines during the draft, in addition to adding players at safety, linebacker and potentially another running back, receiver or quarterback.

During his previous tenure with the team, Hurney proved his worth with multiple historic first-round selections. Julius Peppers, Jordan Gross, Thomas Davis, DeAngelo Williams, Jon Beason, Jonathan Stewart, Cam Newton and Luke Kuechly all became Panthers courtesy of Hurney but a few later additions have flourished as well.

Continue to view some of his best post first-round selections, proving Hurney is not just a one round wonder.
