The 2019 Carolina Panthers preseason schedule has officially been released.

On Tuesday, the Carolina Panthers came one step closer to the start of the 2019 National Football League season. The Panthers preseason opponents were announced, and although it is only preseason, it should make for some exciting football at the tail end of the summer.

They will face off against the Chicago Bears in week One. With the roster headlined by quarterback Mitchell Trubisky and All-Pro linebacker Khalil Mack it should be a fun game. Again, it is only preseason so the duo may not see a ton of snaps, but it will be interesting to see those two play and perhaps more importantly, how the Carolina Panthers fare against those players.

In Week Two, the Panthers will face off against to the Buffalo Bills and quarterback Josh Allen. Allen looks to build off a successful rookie campaign where he showed a ton of promise. The Carolina Panthers hope to slow down that rebuilding process in this one. Perhaps the game I’m looking forward to the most is the week three contest at the New England Patriots. Led by quarterback Tom Brady, the Patriots offense will look a little bit different without tight end Rob Gronkowski. Recently retired in the offseason, my guess is that we’ll see a lot of the Patriots’ replacement for Gronk, which they should be able to pick up in the Draft.

Lastly, the Panthers will take on the Pittsburgh Steelers in the preseason finale. This will be the second year in a row that the Carolina Panthers and Pittsburgh Steelers meet in the preseason under the ownership of David Tepper. Last year, the Steelers were victorious by a 39-24 score. They also met during the regular season on Thursday Night Football in November. We all know what happened that night, and that is a game that I will not speak of further.

Overall, it’s a good slate of games that the Panthers have. It provides them good competition and several good “measuring stick” games.  Two out of the four teams on the schedule made the playoffs last year. One of the opponents won the Super Bowl. Although it is only preseason, these opponents should not be taken lightly. The Carolina Panthers should definitely be able to get ready for the regular season with these games, and I am excited to see what the team brings to the table. Having the Bills and Steelers at home should be exciting for the fans.
