He brings playoff experience

Some members of the Carolina Panthers roster have playoff experience either from playing in the Super Bowl a couple years ago or postseason experience with other teams. However, a lot of the roster, particularly when it comes to some of the younger wide receivers, have no postseason experience whatsoever. Hogan will be able to provide experience as the Panthers look to get back to the postseason.

Hogan came up big in the playoffs, particularly with the New England Patriots. In a nine games played, seven of which he started, he recorded 34 catches for 542 yards and four touchdowns. He proved effective at making a big-play, averaging 15.9 yards per reception. His best playoff performance came in the 2016 postseason. That year, he recorded 17 receptions on 23 targets for 332 yards and two touchdowns.

He averaged 110.7 yards per game and was a vital piece to the Patriots passing attack in the postseason. That in itself is enough of a reason that this pickup was very valuable for Carolina. He should be able to be a tremendous asset for the team moving forward. Winning two super Bowls, he has pretty much see it all when it comes to the postseason. He will definitely be an asset in the wide receivers room in that regard.
