Daryl Williams

Daryl Williams undoubtedly needs to prove himself for the 2019 season. It’s no secret that he is a great player. The fact that he was an All-Pro in 2017 proves it. However, coming off injury and on a “prove it” deal of his own, he needs to show that he can get back to the Williams of old

Asking him to play like he did in 2017 may not be fair. However the fact of the matter is, the offensive line needs him to play like that again. Although they did well with an injured unit in 2018, I highly doubt the Carolina Panthers can find lightning in a bottle twice. To put Williams’ 2017 season in perspective, he had a 78 offensive rating, 78 pass block rating and a 69.3 run block rating. He only had two penalties in 1,140 snaps per statistics from Pro football Focus. He played at a high level that year, and his All-Pro nod was well-deserved.

He needs to show that he is healthy and can contribute to the line. He has the most to prove on a personal level. If he performs well, that could mean a bigger payday for him in free agency come 2020. If he struggles this year, that could set him back. It would be in the best interest of both team and player for Williams to have a great season. If he does, the Carolina Panthers offensive line could be one of the best in football this year. That would be quite a change-up from last year.
