The Carolina Panthers made a great selection here.

The Carolina Panthers made some noise early on the second day of the NFL Draft, as they traded for the 37th overall pick with the Seattle Seahawks. They used it to select offensive tackle Greg Little.

Little is anything but at six-foot-five, 310 pounds. Although he may be a bit of a project prospect, there is a lot to like about him. For one, he is very mobile. That will certainly work out well with cam Newton as the quarterback himself possesses tremendous strength in and out of the pocket. His NFL.com  scouting report says that Little is “punch ready with his hands.” That is important as the Carolina Panthers offense relies on timing and quickness. With Newton under center and Christian McCaffrey in the backfield, Little needs to be ready to block at a moment’s notice. It sounds like he has the play style to do that.

One of his biggest deficiencies per his scouting report as I see it is that he struggles a bit in the running game and gets pushed back into the pocket. That is something he will definitely have to work on. Luckily, it is something that can be corrected, and if he can fix that, he will truly be an all-around lineman for the Panthers. It will be interesting to see if he will work on his presence in the pocket with the running game in training camp.

Overall, this is a great value pick. The Carolina Panthers need to continue to beef up their offensive line and Little certainly provides that. As Jordan Rodrigue noted via a quote from general manager Marty Hurney, Little is dependable in the passing game and that is going to be huge. Newton took too many hits under center last year, and Little should be a stabilizing force in that regard. Little has given up only 26 pressures in 900 snaps. That to me is the definition of sturdy. This type of play is exactly what the Carolina Panthers need

This was another great pick by the Carolina Panthers and Little should be a player that stabilizes the offensive line for years to come. He is still a little raw in some aspects, but his deficiencies should not prevent him from being an impactful player. This is a guy that I could see having a long and successful career. This was a great pick that should be able to pay dividends rather quickly.
