For the team’s next tier of rookies, the Panthers seem to have found prominent depth pieces going forward at the least. Quarterback Will Grier, edge (listed as a linebacker) Christian Miller, running back Jordan Scarlett and tackle Dennis Daley round out all seven draft selections and provide the team with great development and depth choices.

Grier, a former Heisman hopeful, gives the team the quality reserve quarterback that it’s missed since the departure of Derek Anderson. However, he projects to have a higher upside. Additionally, in the event of a Newton injury, the team has a solid replacement over last year’s reserves of Taylor Heinicke and Kyle Allen.
