Where the 2019 Carolina Panthers NFL Draft picks stand

Running Back and Tackle
Running back Jordan Scarlett is the first to be at most a quality depth piece. With Christian McCaffrey firmly entrenched as the team’s starter, Scarlett will have to battle not only Cameron Artis-Payne but also undrafted free agent Elijah Holyfield for either a second or third string position.

Where Holyfield may have more power and has less off-field drama, Scarlett was a productive running back at Florida who split carries with two other players. Yet, Carolina took a flyer on the bruising back who ran a 4.47, 40-yard dash.
Offensive tackle Dennis Daley rounds out the list of quality depth pieces drafted for the Panthers. At 6-foot-6 and 324 pounds, Daley offers size and potential to learn behind quality players and offer spot starts and rest for the players ahead of him. And with proper training and development, Daley could offer Panthers an improved version of Amini Silatolu. Seventh round pick Terry Godwin would be a long shot to make the team, even on special team due to players ahead of his as well as a thin frame.
For the Panthers, the draft so far seems a success. With seven new players whose talent ranges from starter to quality depth, success is seemingly on the horizon. With their careers and potential to further be determined, only time will tell how much of a success these players will have.
