Replacing veteran center Ryan Kalil and protecting Newton were the two main focal points for Hurney during the offseason. As the free agent period began, Carolina targeted Matt Paradis to fill both roles, in addition to reconstructing a unit that struggled at times last season.

Although riddled with injuries, the front line held up initially but eventually all of the shifting positions and moving pieces caught up to the team. In the end, a lack of protection sent two more quarterbacks down with injuries while highlighting both the durability and athleticism of Newton.
Not wanting to put their franchise quarterback in jeopardy, the Panthers have attempted to reorganize this unit in an effort to boost the offense. Taylor Moton continues to impress and Daryl Williams enters a one-year deal with plenty of incentive to prove he can still contribute.
Finding the right combination may take some effort but among these 10 names, it is safe to assume Carolina is in better shape up front than they were at any point last year.
Stay tuned for the upcoming defense and special teams Week 1 projections.
