The defensive line should be a strong point for the Carolina Panthers.

The Carolina Panthers were on the receiving end of high praise from the national media Monday. Peter Schrager of Good Morning Football had nothing but nice things to say about the Carolina Panthers defensive line.

As it is right now, the Carolina Panthers have a defensive line that is a nightmare for opposing offenses. Particularly as an opposing quarterback, I would not want to have to deal with what the Carolina Panthers will be throwing at opponents. Unlike last year, versatility is present and they have many ways they can beat you. This will be a nice change and allow hopefully for sacks and fumbles.

When you take a look who is on the defensive line, it is easy to get excited about the potential this unit has. The line may be what separates them from the rest of the teams in the NFC South. For a while now, we have been looking for something that will put them over the top of these teams. Carolina may finally have its answer.

"“The Panthers’ defensive line is really impressive right now,” said Schrager. “If you go through the names of these Panthers players, we’re talking studs, top to bottom … K.K. Short might be the best defensive tackle, you put him with Gerald McCoy, (Mario) Addison, Dontari (Poe), Bruce Irvin, the list keeps going, in a Ron Rivera defense – good luck NFC South quarterbacks.”"

Obviously, we have yet to see the unit as a whole in game situations. Once they are able to get the playbook, things may look a little different. However, they should still be able to perform well, there is too much talent to not do so. These are the type of players that could perform well without a playbook, and just perform on talent alone. Although that is not what’s going to happen, it is fun to think about it like that. The Carolina Panthers have not had a defensive line like this in several years.

I’m excited to see the Panthers get this much love from the national media. It seems like people are finally starting to take notice that the Panthers could make noise in the NFC South. In a crowded division with a lot of stars, it admittedly is hard for them to receive the praise they deserve. However, I think that will change this year. They have a very solid roster from top to bottom, and playmakers on both sides of the football.

The Carolina Panthers are ready to make the lives of everyone else miserable. If everything goes according to plan, it will be a sweet turnaround from last season.
