Yards per carry

5.8 yards per carry is the all-time mark in the history of the Carolina Panthers. In what is an interesting twist, that record was not even set by a running back. It was set by quarterback cam Newton, who accomplished the feat in 2012. He would finish with eight rushing touchdowns on the year.

McCaffrey will most likely be used more as a running back this year than a receiving back. Now, Carolina has weapons for Newton to throw to. For comparisons sake, McCaffrey had five yards per carry last season. He would certainly have some work to do, but with his skills and abilities, he could certainly get it done. He has the strength to bulldoze through defensive lines.

This could be his year where he truly becomes a running back that could gain chunks of yardage per carry. With an improved offensive line, and less stress on him to carry the offense, McCaffrey could be in line for a great year. Being a pure running back would be less taxing on his body, and allow him to accomplish this goal.
