Corn Elder

It’s rare to see a veteran on this list, but if there’s anyone that is due for a breakout year in 2019, it is Corn Elder. The veteran has not seen much playing time of the last couple of seasons, particularly last year. Now, he could be thrust into the secondary conversation for the Carolina Panthers.

This is a situation that kind of started formation at the beginning of January. Mike Adams and Captain Munnerlyn were sent packing. Although, it was their time to go due to age, it doesn’t leave that many veterans in the secondary. Elder now fits into that category.

Elder only had three tackles last season. There is certainly room for improvement there. Now in his third season, this is a make-or-break situation for him. He needs to show that he can perform at a high level if he wants to be a key part of the secondary. This could be another crash course opportunity much like Gaulden is presented with. Even if increased steps may mean lack of depth, they also mean a chance to have a breakout year.
