The Carolina Panthers running back has a plan for success.

There is no doubt that Christian McCaffrey wants to have another successful season in 2019. After all, 2018 was pretty solid in its own right. He established himself as a leader for the Carolina Panthers offense, and McCaffrey was often the calming influence in a year where not many things seemed to go right for Carolina.

Heading into the 2019 season, he has different goals. One of them is pretty lofty. He wants to join the 1000-yard rushing, 1,000-yard receiving club. With all of the new receivers the Carolina Panthers have given quarterback Cam Newton, I would certainly think that he would not be able to achieve it this year. However, because of the success he had catching the ball last year, it may not be such a lofty goal for this year and beyond. McCaffrey has established himself as a solid receiver that can be counted upon in any situation.

It’s certainly something that he can do, he has the speed and explosiveness to do so. Once he is able to catch the ball, as long as he has space, he can rack up receiving yards in bunches. It’s interesting to see that he is such a physical runner both as a running back with the ball and as a receiver after the catch. That will undoubtedly help him reach his goal. He certainly has the talent to do so, and if he were to accomplish this, he would put his name in NFL history with some of the all-time great running backs. McCaffrey seems to recognize that. He took part in an extensive interview with Sam Alipour of ESPN The Magazine earlier this week.

"I got a lot of goals that I keep to myself, but one goal is definitely the 1K/1K club [1,000 yards rushing and receiving]. I almost did it last year and it was a bummer not getting it. Two guys have done it — Marshall Faulk and Roger Craig — and there’s a race to be the third. There’s a lot of backs in the league who can get there."

With the way he trains, and his vision for success, McCaffrey should be in several sections of the NFL record books by the time his career is over. He certainly has the capability to be, at the very least, the best running back in the history of the Carolina Panthers. Now in his third year, he seems to have a good grasp at what he wants to accomplish. Obviously, the overall goal for him would be to win a Super Bowl ring. However, he is probably quick to take things one step at a time.

I love watching McCaffrey play every Sunday. He has been a tremendous asset for the Carolina Panthers. It will be fun to watch him grow in the 2019 season. As he showed last year, his potential is limitless. The sky is truly the limit for him, and I’m excited to see how the future plays out for him.
