Depth chart is a win for the underdogs

This depth chart is certainly a win for the lesser-known players. Bryan Cox Jr. is in the second spot at left defensive end, slotted behind Gerald McCoy. Marquise Haynes is in the second spot behind Bruce Irvin at right outside linebacker, and Andre Smith is in the second spot at right inside linebacker behind Luke Kuechly.

Those three are relatively unheralded names who could certainly make an impact this year. They are not going to start over the ones at the position, but they could be in line for some significant playing time. This year, those three were viewed as either projects or bubble players. Now, they look to be in a position where they can showcase their worth right away. One player in particular should be put under the microscope.

The Carolina Panthers tendered Cox in the off-season. They must have thought he had a tremendous potential. I certainly thought he had a shot at being able to make an impact. They wouldn’t have tendered him if they didn’t think he had a chance to make an impact for their roster. I’m curious to see what he can do and what the other players mentioned above can produce. This is the time for them to shine.
