Dennis Daley

Right guard Dennis Daley undoubtedly has the most to gain in the 2019 preseason. Currently slated at the second spot in the depth chart at right guard, he will be playing a backup role to Trai Turner. With so much intrigue surrounding the Carolina Panthers pick of Greg Little, Daley kind of got pushed to the side a bit. Nevertheless, he is still quite talented.

Daley is a tough football player, having spent his first two seasons of college ball at Georgia Military College. Measuring in at six-foot-five, 317 pounds, he started 23 games over the course of his career at South Carolina. According to his draft profile on NFL.com, he is “able to absorb opponent’s power” and has guarded the likes of Jachai Polite, Clelin Ferrell, Deandre Walker and Josh Allen. That should certainly help him during the course of training camp. Those four are very physical football players. If he played well against them, he can pretty much play well against anybody.

I’ll be curious to see what he can bring to the table for Carolina. There is certainly a lot of upside and potential with Daley, and he can put that on full display presumably beginning on Thursday. If the Carolina Panthers are lucky enough to find depth behind Turner, that would be excellent. Daley may be a bit of a project pick, but he is one that should be able to adapt to the NFL ranks in no time. As a result, his stock has the opportunity to rise at a very quick pace, and he certainly has the most to gain this preseason.
