Solid Depth

At some point during the season every NFL team is going to deal with some type of injury – often more than one. Having players who can fill these gaps and ensure the entire season isn’t wasted due to the loss of one or two players is where successful teams find their strength.

Being able to rely on the backups and reserves to contribute, regardless of the situation, makes for a strong locker room and ability to withstand the ebbs and flows suffered during a strenuous regular season.

Often the preseason reveals which teams have an opportunity to find success once the games count and this has been especially true for Rivera and the Panthers. Since 2011, each time Carolina won three preseason games they also captured the NFC South divisional title and made the playoffs except for last season. Another strong preseason showing would reveal the depth of this year’s Panthers team and hopefully transition into future success.
