Carolina Panthers: Three studs from win over Chicago Bears
Elijah Holyfield
Elijah Holyfield had a great night. Despite being a little nervous to start the game, which resulted in a fumble, he bounced back nicely. He was one of the guys that I was definitely paying attention to over the course of the game. It safe to say he delivered.
He finished the game with nine carries for 26 yards and a touchdown. An 11-yard carry he was his longest of the evening. Once he got settled in, he ran confidently and smoothly. He also caught two passes for 13 yards and a touchdown. His versatility did not go unnoticed.
For a running back who is so low on the depth chart, he made a great case to be moved up. He has been working very hard over the course of the preseason, and it appears that his hard work is beginning to pay off. We will have to see what he does next week.
In any event, it was so far so good for Holyfield. He looked like he was running with a purpose, and that translated to tremendous on-field results. He needed to have a good game on Thursday night, and he did. Now, he just has to carry that momentum over to the next one.
