Marquise Haynes

The defense certainly had a big night on Thursday, and it was led by Marquise Haynes. He needed to have a big night, as he is second on the depth chart behind veteran Bruce Irvin. It is going to take a lot of work for him to think about challenging Irvin for the top spot.

He certainly showed that he could play on Thursday night. He recorded four combined tackles and two sacks. With three tackles for a loss, he was all over the place on the field. He showed his athleticism, and what he could do when given a fair amount of snaps. Leading up to this game, I said that he needed to have a big game and that these types of games were for players who didn’t get a chance to prove themselves last season. Haynes certainly proved himself, and he made the most of his opportunity.

It will be interesting to see what he will do next Friday night against the Buffalo Bills. He needs to build off the momentum he has created so far. If he can put together another good showing on Friday, he would certainly help his case to be a starter.
