Carolina Panthers offense projected to impress in 2019
The Carolina Panthers offense, if healthy, is loading up for a big season.
Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator Norv Turner never truly got to enjoy his first full season with the team as injuries decimated the offense. Since training camp last season, the Panthers lost multiple offensive linemen, shuffling through different combinations of players and signing new ones just to piece together protection weekly.
Wide receiver Curtis Samuel missed a few early season games and veteran tight end Greg Olsen continually battled foot issues. Ultimately, quarterback Cam Newton would struggle with his throwing shoulder from midway through the season and despite the adversity, Carolina still remained in playoff contention until late.
After multiple losses Newton was eventually shut down for the final two games and once the offseason arrived, general manager Marty Hurney went to work. Targeting experienced receivers to pair with young talent and adding new offensive linemen, Turner has to be excited about the potential from this year’s unit.

Count CBS Sports Will Brinson as another who is on board with the Panthers new offense. Selected as one of three NFL teams poised to “surprise, break out in a big way” this season, Carolina appears to have the pieces in place for something special.
Of course it all depends on how healthy this unit remains throughout the season but that is typically always the case for any NFL team. If Newton and his new throwing motion keep him energized and playing well throughout the duration of the schedule than the Panthers should contend for another divisional title and return to the playoffs despite predictions to the contrary.
With a revamped defensive front and scheme change, the Carolina defense may also surprise in 2019. If there preseason effort against the Chicago Bears was any indication (five sacks) then both sides of the football should be improved.
