Continue to involve the running backs

The running back unit for the Carolina Panthers was a huge asset on Thursday. They will need to involve them heavily in the offense yet again on Friday. They have been getting great production out of the unit the entire training camp, and it has translated to some of these preseason games.

Although the Carolina Panthers did not put up tremendous rushing numbers, they certainly were effective. Elijiah Holyfield was the leader last Thursday, carrying the ball eight times for 26 yards and a touchdown. Reggie Bonnafon carried the ball four times for 23 yards, averaging 5.8 yards per carry. His performance was certainly a pleasant surprise.

What was perhaps even more impressive was the rushing talents of the quarterbacks. Will Grier rushed the ball for 20 yards, while Taylor Heinicke rushed the ball for 10.

Cameron Artis-Payne had a nice day through the air, catching two passes for 30 yards and leading all running backs in that department. Holyfield did his part as well, catching two passes for 13 yards and a touchdown. The running backs were involved in all phases of the game, and that was great to see. They need to be as involved in the game on Friday. If they can have a big impact, it could be another big win for the Panthers.
