The quarterbacks need to show up

This kind of goes without saying, but all the backup quarterbacks need to play well on Thursday. This game is crucial especially for Will Grier and Kyle Allen, both of whom are fighting for the second spot on the depth chart.

There were things that the pair did well on the Thursday against New England. However, their performance didn’t really stand out. To be fair, nobody’s performance was amazing. Allen went three-of-six, throwing for 60 yards. Grier looked decent all things considered, going four-of-eight and throwing for 44 yards.

To me, this game is for them to make a good final impression. They haven’t always looked so smooth this preseason Alan certainly has the edge at the second spot. However, Grier can certainly make a statement if he plays well. Either way, both of them need to have a strong showing. Last week was disappointing, and they need to have a better showing this Thursday. There is no doubt they have talent, they just need to be able to put it all together and continue to compete at a high level. Making proper reads, making quick decisions, and not turning the ball over are just some of the things that need to happen on Thursday if they want to have success.
