Will Grier has potential

The Carolina Panthers have a good quarterback in rookie Will Grier. At times Thursday night, he looked a little tentative, but the potential is definitely there.

The first couple drives of the game did not start well at all. An interception and a strip sack were just some of the miscues during the game. When he was able to get protection from the line, he was able to show off his arm strength and touch. He is still very much a project, but he is a rookie so he has time to work on these things. He finished the game with 189 yards, a touchdown, and an interception. The number that pops out to me the most is his yards per pass. He averaged 10.5 yards per pass which is certainly a sign of someone who can sling the rock.

If Cam Newton runs into trouble with injuries this season, I feel like Greer can handle the duties. It may not be the prettiest display of football, but I feel confident in his abilities. He showed me a lot , moreso than in other games. He just has to polish his skills a bit and then he should be a more complete quarterback. I really liked what I saw from him, and Carolina made a good choice by drafting him.
