Limit the interceptions

Carolina needs take care of the football through the air. Last year, Los Angeles was ranked fourth in the National Football League with 18 interceptions. That tied them with the New England Patriots. John Johnson III led the team with four interceptions on the year.

Carolina was near the top of the league with 16 interceptions thrown on the season. They need to do a better job of taking care the football on Sunday. Especially in front of the home crowd, this game is going to be all about momentum. If the Panthers throw interceptions and allow Los Angeles to seize that momentum back, that certainly is less than ideal. Cam Newton needs to make sure to look through his reads and pick the best one.

Depending on how the offensive line does, he may need to throw the ball away at some points. I would rather him  do that than to make a risky throw and give the Los Angeles Rams the momentum. If they can establish a ground game, or even use Christian McCaffrey in the short passing game, that should work in their favor. They can’t afford to try for home run plays. They have to just take what’s given to them. Los Angeles has too many defensive playmakers to warrant taking risks.
