Carolina Panthers performance grades through the first-quarter of 2019.

It’s hard to believe just one month ago fans were impatiently awaiting meaningful football games and now, one-fourth of the 2019 season is complete. For the Carolina Panthers, injuries have plagued their first four games as the team deals with a loss of franchise quarterback Cam Newton and star defensive tackle Kawann Short.

Short was recently added to the Injury Reserve list, ending his 2019 campaign but Newton remains a candidate to return. Although not much detail has surfaced about the nagging foot injury, Carolina has been quick to name backup Kyle Allen the starter in recent weeks. A continued high level of play from the second-year pro will serve to buy Newton more time to fully heal and return when ready.

After back-to-back losses, the Panthers rebounded with two consecutive road victories with Allen under center. A relentless defense, generating 14 sacks over the past two weeks, has also aided in the process.

Continue to see how each positional group has performed throughout the first-quarter of the 2019 season.
