McCaffrey has been the unquestioned leader for the Carolina Panthers.

Over the years, we have heard the “Superman” moniker used as a way to describe Carolina Panthers quarterback cam Newton. Perhaps it isn’t right to strip his nickname away from him, especially considering he is on the mend. However, over the past couple of games, and even for the entirety of the season so far, one player is worthy of the Superman nickname. Christian McCaffrey is that guy.

Sunday, he carried the team on his back once again. He rushed the ball 19 times for 176 yards and two touchdowns. Averaging 9.3 yards per carry, an 84-yard dash was his longest of the afternoon. Think about those numbers for a second. 176 yards. That’s a crazy amount for just one game. Even looking at his season statistics, he has put up some insane numbers.

More from Cat Crave

He leads the entire league in rushing with 411 yards. His 102.8 rushing yards per game also leads the league. However, Sunday was also a day where we might have seen the increased workload take a toll on him. He left with cramps in the third quarter of the game, and that is when Reggie Bonnafon came in. Even still, there is no denying that he had an incredible day on Sunday.

He is putting the team on his back right now and helping lead them to victory. His veteran presence on the offensive side of the football is important. When you have a second-year quarterback like Kyle Allen, he is going to need some veteran help. Looking at the bigger picture, the Carolina Panthers offense has needed some help. McCaffrey has been there to help pick up the pieces. He has made the difficult offensive days look a little bit better in the box score.  These are exactly the type of numbers that you want to see from a former first-round pick. Some may argue that he is doing a little bit too much. I would fall into that category.

As the Panthers travel overseas to London for their game next week against Tampa Bay Buccaneers, I am wondering what is next for “Run CMC.” He has had so many great games, it is difficult to ask him to do anything more. Hopefully, he can put on a good show for the folks across the pond. He certainly doesn’t disappoint here in the United States, and he is leading the Carolina Panthers through some trying times right now. Even though it may not be ideal for his body, I love seeing him put together the types of games like he did on Sunday. I can’t wait to see what he does for an encore.
