The Panthers picked up a big win across the pond.

What an NFL Sunday. Here in the Carolina’s, fall is finally in the air after a scorching summer. The weather has cooled down and the Panthers have heated up. The Redskins finally won a game, the Broncos dominated the Titans (and caused a Mariota benching), and the Cowboys showed everyone that they are… the Cowboys.

The Carolina Panthers absolutely dismantled the Buccaneers. They turned Jameis Winston, who put up over 50 points just a few short weeks ago, into a turnover machine. Christian McCaffrey was stifled again by the Bucs defense but still hit pay dirt twice. Kyle Allen looked like an absolute gunslinger, throwing for 227 yards and two touchdowns. He is 5-0 in career starts, with 9 touchdowns and ZERO interceptions. ZERO.

More from Cat Crave

Cam threw 13 interceptions last year and tossed a pick playing in just two games this season. Those interceptions and incompletions have cost us numerous drives, games, and playoffs bids. Oh yeah, and it’s wasted numerous Luke Kuechly prime years. The last thing I want to see if us to waste Christian McCaffrey’s.

A friend texted me after the game, “You guys looked good. Just wait until Cam is back to full health”. I have no understanding for this kind of thinking. Yes, I would pick Cam Newton in a 40 yard dash over Kyle Allen. Yes, I would rather Cam scamper for a first down than Kyle. However, with the game on the line and a full field to go, 10 times out of 10 I would pick Kyle Allen, healthy Cam or not. In the history of the NFL, running QB’s do not win Super Bowls.

Look at Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, and Ben Roethlisberger. They have excelled over the past decade at reading defenses and getting the ball out quickly to their playmakers. That is the blueprint for winning in the NFL. Running QB’s may be able to win regular season games but that game plan is not conducive to winning Super Bowl rings. Pocket quarterbacks have lasting success.

The accuracy Allen has shown is absolutely not a fluke. After starting out 0-2, winning 4 straight team games has the Carolina’s abuzz. I think it’s time Kyle Allen heads into his bye week getting the respect he deserves. Go Panthers, and thank God we are not Redskins fans.
