Sanders could help the Carolina Panthers.

As we all know the NFL trade deadline is coming up and the Carolina Panthers figure to be in the market for a wide receiver. At least that’s what it seems like. Multiple reports, Including one from ESPN, have suggested that the Carolina Panthers would be among the suitors for Denver Broncos wideout Emmanuel Sanders.

One thing is certain. Sanders can still bring a ton of production to the table. He has 30 catches for 367 yards and two touchdowns in seven contests. As the Broncos look to retool their offense, Sanders could get a decent return in a trade.

The Carolina Panthers have a solid base in terms of wide receivers. With DJ Moore and Curtis Samuel holding things down on the unit, initial production is not a problem. It is secondary production that seems to be the issue here. With  the Carolina Panthers down a man in Chris Hogan, they are going to need some help. Sanders could help fill that void.

His play style would fit the Panthers very well. He is someone that can stretch the field. Although he may not be as fast as he used to be, he can still make defenses think about how they’re going to play him. Perhaps also crucial is that he would be a veteran receiver on a unit that is still young. Consider the fact that Moore and Kyle Allen are both second-year players. Samuel is starting to find his groove after being hampered by injuries. They could definitely use a veteran player in the locker room, particularly if they keep winning ballgames and put themselves in playoff position.

Depending on what the price tag is and what the Broncos want in return, Sanders could definitely be a great piece for the Panthers. He gives them another player that can stretch the field and make big plays. In today’s National Football League, you need that type of player on your roster. As a matter of fact, you need a couple of players that have that play style. Combined with the fact that he has already put up decent numbers to this point in the season, he could very well be what the Panthers need to take the next step offensively.

At the very least, it wouldn’t hurt to kick the proverbial tires on Sanders. He is definitely someone the Panthers could utilize, and he would be very effective in an offense that preaches speed and big plays. Although a Norv Turner offense mostly utilizes a running back, Sanders can find a role. Somebody needs to help take the pressure off Christian McCaffrey, and I believe he can do that. He may not be the wide receiving threat he once was, but he is still productive.
