The Carolina Panthers head to Santa Clara to take on the San Francisco 49ers in a Week 8 matchup. The Panthers look to improve their record to 5-2 by handing the 49ers their first loss of the season.

We are nearing the halfway point of the season as the Carolina Panthers square off against the San Francisco 49ers. Both teams have their playoff hopes sky-high. If the season ended today the 49ers would be the No. 1 seed and the Panthers would squeak into the postseason with the No. 6 wildcard spot.

The Panthers are coming off of their bye week winners of four straight games since backup quarterback Kyle Allen took over as the starter. They sit at 4-2 behind the 6-1 New Orleans Saints in the NFC South.

The 49ers have started off the 2019 season with a perfect 6-0 record. They are in first place in the NFC West and have the best record in the entire NFC.

Both teams are very similar. They are built around playing sound defense and running the ball on offense. They both have quarterbacks that lead their teams to victory by minimizing turnovers and mistakes.

The rested Panthers have the firepower to hand San Francisco their first loss of the season, but it will take an extraordinary effort.
