Question 3: Can the Panthers convert on 3rd downs?

Another area the Panthers really struggled in last week was converting on 3rd downs. Carolina was 2-for-13 on 3rd downs against the 49ers defense. They were also 0-for-2 on 4th down attempts.

It is very hard to win with that poor of a success rate of keeping drives alive. The Titans defense is considered a middle of the pack unit in the NFL, so the Panthers should have an easier time staying on the field.

Allen has to be better about getting the ball out quickly because 3rd down is the down that teams love to bring extra blitzes to hurry quarterbacks. Expect running back Christian McCaffrey to play a pivotal role in catching the ball out of the backfield to extend drives and keep the chains moving.

If the Panthers can have more success converting on 3rd downs, then they should have a good chance to move to 5-3 on the year.
