The Rams’ loss gives hope for a wildcard spot.

The home loss to the Rams at the beginning of the season didn’t help the Panthers, but the Rams’ loss this weekend may prove to be instrumental for a Panther playoff run. The Panthers are still in a position to make the playoffs either with a wildcard berth or a division title and both are totally possible. The Steelers did some of the dirty work by continuing their winning streak yesterday.

A loss to the Steelers means that the Rams remain tied with the Eagles and Panthers in the race for the second wildcard spot. The Rams would obviously hold their place ahead of the Panthers unless the Panthers win one more game, but the Rams’ remaining schedule will include four more divisional matchups and visits from Baltimore, Dallas, and Chicago. The only two teams below .500 on their remaining schedule are the Cardinals (who have been giving teams a run for their money lately) and Chicago.
