No. 1: Panthers must stop Falcons pass rush

The Falcons defensive line took over last week’s game sacking Saints quarterback Drew Brees six times. The Atlanta defense had 11 total hits on the future Hall of Famer as well.

Brees had a very uncharacteristically bad game throwing for 287-yards and no touchdown passes. Atlanta’s pass rush played a huge role in keeping the quarterback in check.

The Panthers allowed three sacks on quarterback Kyle Allen last week, so hopefully, they can keep the Falcons pressure to a minimum.

Carolina’s starting tackles, Dennis Daley and Greg Little are both questionable for the game. If the Panthers are going to keep Allen clean in the pocket, then they will have to have outstanding play from the offensive line as well as run quick routes that allow him to get the ball out quick.

Expect running back Christian McCaffrey and tight end Greg Olsen to play a huge role in helping Allen get the ball out quickly by getting open on short routes in the middle of the field.

Don’t be surprised if McCaffrey and Olsen are asked to stay back and help pass protect on longer pass plays as well.
