Carolina Panthers: Christian McCaffrey to wear special cleats for Sunday
The Carolina Panthers running back is honoring a cause dear to him.
Heading into Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons, it’s important to remember that many Carolina Panthers are supporting causes that are bigger than football. Running back Christian McCaffrey is certainly an example of this.
On Sunday, McCaffrey will be wearing cleats that represent the long journey to recovery for our military service members. From the Wounded Warrior Project, McCaffrey will be honoring them this weekend. I certainly couldn’t think of a guy to better represent the cause.
McCaffrey has certainly shown toughness and grit on the football field. He has rushed the ball 235 times for 1,167 yards and 12 touchdowns. His best game this season came against the Arizona Cardinals on September 22. In that contest, he carried the rock 24 times for 153 yards and a touchdown.
McCaffrey will certainly have a chance to leave his mark on the game Sunday. Atlanta comes into action giving up 108.7 yards per game on the season. He struggled a bit against Atlanta the last time these two played. Carrying the ball 14 times for 70 yards, he averaged 5 yards per carry. An 11-yard rush was his longest of the afternoon.
It will be very interesting to see what the Carolina Panthers do with a remade coaching staff. I wouldn’t expect a ton of flair offensively. As matter of fact, I would expect McCaffrey to get the ball often. With what is going to be somewhat of a remade offense, McCaffrey has been the constant for the unit the entire season. Why go away from what’s working? Feeding him the football is going to be crucial to the Carolina Panthers success on Sunday.
Hopefully, they can get a win and generate some positive momentum heading into these final three games. Positive momentum is going to be key heading into what is slated to be a busy offseason.
Kudos to CMC for wearing these. They look sharp, and McCaffrey will do the cleats justice. It will be fun to see him wear these on Sunday.
