Carolina Panthers: Two additions that could make a huge impact

The missing length

As much as the Panthers like to do their own thing they need to look at how other teams have created their own success (particularly in the NFC South). The Falcons have Jones, the Buccaneers have Evans, and the Saints have Thomas.

They all have their big “#1 wide receiver” that wins fights for the ball and makes for a favorite target. Moore can put up a fight and make tight catches, but he’s not a rangy guy that you like to see on a deep play.

Samuel and Wright provide some amelioration, but there isn’t too much promise after that. The Panthers have already shown that the idea of a rangy person is on the list when they acquired Moncreif, but that obviously didn’t work out. They’ll likely seek out another rangy veteran receiver to fill the void. It’s even possible that they might have their eyes on another team’s cornerstone receiver, for the right price.
