Seattle ranks in the top five in rushing yards per game. What have they done this year that has made running the football a key piece of their offense?

Seattle has gotten more run-focuses since Brian Schottenheimer became the offensive coordinator last year. Seattle led the NFL in rushing in 2018 and has been mostly good this season as well. The Seahawks have to run well because their defense isn’t good enough to win games on their own. If Seattle can chew up yards on the ground and keep their defense fresh, they can beat anyone. But if Seattle is forced to become one dimensional, they will lose. Seattle is able to run the ball well because they made moves to get huge on the interior of their line with players like D.J. Fluker. But Fluker and Mike Iupati, the other guard, aren’t good pass blockers so if they have an off day run-blocking, Seattle’s offense is doomed.
