Here’s to hoping the Carolina Panthers star can play.

As the Carolina Panthers get set to play their final game of the season, several players ended up on the Thursday practice injury report. One in particular of note is wide receiver DJ Moore.

Moore has been having a difficult week in terms of health. He was listed as a non-participant on Wednesday’s injury report and he did not practice on Thursday. It is worth noting that he has never missed a game in his two-year career.

In the grand scheme of things, Sunday’s game does not mean much to the Carolina Panthers. Rather, is a formality at this point. Even still, I would love to see Moore play one last time this season. In what has been a down year for the organization, he has been a bright spot overall.

The former Maryland star has caught 87 passes for 1,175 yards and four touchdowns. He caught one pass before leaving Sunday’s game with a concussion.

For many second-year players the sophomore slump begins to set in. After having a successful rookie season last year, that could have been the case for Moore. Instead, he improved on his numbers from the 2019 campaign. He has had four 100-yard receiving games on the season. After not catching a touchdown pass for seven weeks, he broke out of that slump with a two-touchdown performance against the New Orleans Saints on November 24th. He then caught another touchdown the week after against Washington.

I will be disappointed if he doesn’t play on Sunday. I would definitely love to watch him play one last time this season. Hopefully, he can be ready to go. However, concussions are nothing to play around with. Maybe it would be best for him to look forward to 2020. He is undoubtedly going to be a huge part of the Carolina Panthers future. As a result, it may be wise for them to rest him, in turn protecting one of their most valuable assets of the future.
