Carolina Panthers: Josh McDaniels interview coming soon
Josh McDaniels is now available for a Carolina Panthers interview.
The Carolina Panthers are going to get an earlier look at one of their prime coaching candidates thanks to a surprising loss over the weekend. New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels wasn’t expected to begin visiting with other teams until next Friday, January 10 – but a loss to the Tennessee Titans over the weekend ended the Patriots season sooner than expected.
As a result, McDaniels may now begin meeting with potential suitors as he determines what is best for his future moving forward. After working alongside Bill Belichick in some form or fashion for 16 seasons, in addition to a brief stint as head coach of the Denver Broncos, McDaniels is one of the most sought after candidates currently on the market.

The Panthers, Cleveland Browns and New York Giants have already requested an interview. Given his newfound availability to meet with teams sooner than anticipated, others may also join in the search as teams look to lock down their coaches in an effort to get full staffs and other details finalized prior to the free agent signing period and new league year beginning in March.
McDaniels has also worked alongside future Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady for quite some time. Given Brady is perhaps entering his first offseason as a free agent, if no extension is signed prior, then the fact he could follow McDaniels to his next destination is an intriguing idea for interviewing teams to consider.
Owner David Tepper appears poised to hire an offensive minded coach for the first time in franchise history. McDaniels may be his main target as Tepper looks to put his own stamp on this franchise while reshaping the Panthers roster.
Given McDaniels unexpected availability, his interview should now take place sometime early this week.
