No. 3: Tackle Anthony Castonzo

Whoever the Panthers decide to have take over the starting quarterback role in 2020 they will need better protection than what they got last season.

Indianapolis Colts’ left tackle Anthony Castonzo has been a solid pass protector since he was drafted in the first round back in 2011.

Castonzo will enter the 2020 season at 32 years old which is really the only knock on him. Pro Football Focus gave him a pass-blocking grade of 84.4 out of 100 in 2019.

PFF grades players on a scale of zero to 100 based on every snap that they play. It isn’t perfect but it is a great analytical tool to use to compare players.

At 32 Castonzo isn’t necessarily a lineman that Carolina will build around but he would be a great piece to add to help protect the Panthers’ quarterback next season. Signing him would also free up some of the draft picks that the team would be tempted to use on offensive lineman and allow them to address other needs.
