No. 2: Linebacker Blake Martinez

There is no replacing Luke Kuechly. Having said that, the Panthers now have a glaring hole on defense since the All-Pro linebacker announced his surprise retirement from the NFL.

Green Bay Packers’ linebacker Blake Martinez could go a long way in helping Carolina mitigate the loss of the heart and soul of their defense.

Martinez has recorded over 90 solo tackles in three straight seasons. The Panthers absolutely need to address the on the field production that losing Kuechly has voided. Martinez is a very solid linebacker that can step in day one and help alleviate the hole in the middle of the defense.

Martinez is also only 26 years old. The Panthers could realistically sign the linebacker to a three or four-year deal and have a reliable, durable linebacker for the rest of his career. Martinez has not missed a game in three seasons.
